TIME GOES BY.

recently, i've been trying to figure out how i'm going to accomplish everything i plan to this summer.

MY LIST:
  1. watch two films a day
  2. finish story/screenplay
  3. work on music mixing with pat
  4. work out, at least every other day
  5. teach ryan photoshop
  6. paint
  7. work with mr. graham on a side project, if he accepts my offer
  8. enjoy time with my friends
i've definitely got my work cut out for me. it will be hard to get all done, but if i accomplish six of eight... i will be partially satisfied.

i've been getting a better grasp on photoshop.

MY SWEET MOUSTACHE:

alright, so you got me. i can't really grow anything but a sparsely covered upper lip... but i think the photoshopped version of me with said moustache came out looking nicely. i plan on making some interesting photo albums this summer, to say the least.

COLOR FACE:

in my illustrator course, we were told to do a self-portrait. this is mine, made with love and tenderness. not exactly, more like made with 13 hours.

PHOTOSHOP MONSTER:

in my photoshop course, we were told to make a monster and this is my first attempt at it. i'll be giving it another go before class next week. it really did come out quite horrendous, didn't it?

RAPIDS GAME:
on saturday, shane(along with his friends josh & eloise) and myself went to see the rapids play the galaxy. it really was a lot of fun and very nice.

a little f.y.i.:
  • the rapids won 1-0
  • we were the largest crowd to ever attend a game at their new arena
  • cheerleaders at soccer games are a bad idea

their incredible stadium:

the stadium is executed so well. all the seats feel unbelievably close to the field and that is very nice. it helps with the intimacy of the game, which can at times feel too far away.

shane and myself:

uhm, i don't know.

i recently came across a software i had been looking for for about 4 years. it takes an image, of your choice, and makes it into the same image made of 1000's of other images. it is called MOZODOJO, but is only for macs, sadly.

TO DEMONSTRATE:

i've always thought this photo was humorous. dad petting kate's head will probably always make me laugh.

THE PRODUCT:

one thing that is very nice it, it is possible to control how many images should be used to replicate the image. the image above uses 2304 to make it, but i could go all the way up to 40,000. i can't wait to make more complicated images with this gizmo.

FILMS:

WATCHED:
i was finally able to get another pass to a fantastic film.

CRAZY LOVE

a zany film on insanity and love with a gripping story that is almost as scary as it is, sadly, humorous

MASCULIN FEMININ

godard does wonderfully, again. in this film, his parallels intense love with extreme acts of violence and darkness. it moves so well between both, that the bad is almost immediately forgotten.

side note, i think that the main female character resembles madre when she was young. mother, do you agree?

LAST KING OF SCOTLAND

i've recently been told that i resemble/have the mannerisms of the lead in this film(not whitaker).

the film was enjoyable, though not exactly factual. i'm not completely sure i see myself in mr. garrigan, though a few pieces might be there.

EL TOPO

it took me a while to build up the courage to watch this film. i'm glad i did because i needed all of it. this film doesn't digest like other films. i'd put it in the same catagory as THE FOUNTAIN, in the way it feels like an experience... though, definitely not as good. the film was enjoyable, but i'd like to spend more time with JODOROWSKY's interviews/other films/commentaries. i think i might enjoy his pieces more.

PARIS, JE T'AIME
i've been reading tidbits on this film for a while. i'm fortunate that it just arrived in theatres in denver. 16 stories of love and romance... it looks beautiful.

THE LONG, HOT SUMMER
a film based on faulkner's story. not sure what to expect.

DANCING.

i've been thinking a lot about what i plan to do this summer. i've been thinking about dancing and, of course, when talking about dancing, fred astaire is synonymous.

i've definitely got a long ways to go, but, damn, this is absolutely beautiful.

LIFE, LOVE, AND HAPPINESS.

sometimes, when i meet new people, i struggle for conversation. my problem isn't that i have nothing to say, it is that i have too much. i want to tell and hear so many things about life, love, and happiness that it sometimes seem overwhelming. that is how i feel right now about this post, and life in general.

MEET SABRINA DUIM:

today, i ,sadly, learned of her passing in january. i had never met her nor known her name prior but, as i continued to read about her, i felt terrible. she sounds like a wonderful, passionate, caring, talented, jovial woman. she was part of volunteer pioneer, one of my favorite recently discovered bands(around november).

take some time and listen to some of the beautiful things she helped create
HEAR HER BAND
HER WEBSITE ON STANFORD'S SERVER
AN INTERVIEW
THE ARTICLE ABOUT HER

you shall be missed, ms. duim.

THE FOUNTAIN:

my favorite film of last year. this film is the reason i live. it is about love and passions. i can only hope to experience something this beautiful in my lifetime. on may 15th, the fountain is finally released to the public in the form of dvd. make a little time for it in your schedule.

SOMETHING THAT SCARES ME:

click on that picture if you can't see what it says.

on the day spiderman 3 opened, it took up a full theater; a big theater at that. it looked like that all weekend. i don't understand how they are able to show this film that many times and make profit. i'm absolutely blown away. i just can't grasp the concept. either way, i didn't see it.

RECENTLY WATCHED/REWATCHED:

DON'T LOOK BACK:
a documentary about bob dylan in his younger years. not necessarily a great film, but i found it quite interesting to watch dylan do his thing and live his life. some people just fascinate me.

YOU DON'T NEED A WEATHERMAN TO KNOW WHICH WAY THE WIND BLOWS:

ALMOST FAMOUS:
such a wonderful, incredible film told well. a growing up story that i have recently realized i'm a complete sucker for.

AMORES PERROS:
Alejandro González Iñárritu's fantastic film about people and life. this film is crazy and hectic. it plays so well with alejandro's stlye. you probably heard of his most recent work, BABEL, which was nominated for the best picture oscar.

LOLITA:
odd film that seems to pull its material too delicately. the BOOK created quite the storm upon its initial release. the film could have done much more, but, if i had to guess, i'd say the studio handling the film took quite the interest in it to make sure it didn't push too many boundaries.

EL TOPO:
the director, JODOROWSKY, said,"i ask of film what most north americans ask of psychedelic drugs".

THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND
:
i've gotten a couple comparisons recently and, thus, i must investigate.

i've got more, but it is late.
