UNICORN LEISURE:

the good sir DAVID LA recently tossed unicorn into ONE of his digital paintings. i must say he really captured the beauty of his cheekbones. thanks, david, my good sir! (be sure to click on the image to enlarge.)

NEED NANCY.

SWIRLY DRINK:

STORY:
for my wot/wow course, we were given a person who designed, and then asked to reinterpret their work when making a piece about ourselves. i received max huber. i decided to make a poster that moves, and can be similar but changing. i was the the primary variable.

THE MATH:
MAX HUBER + ME = the image above

PARRARARARARED:

(l to r: mike)

STORY:
i stopped by MIKE and vanessa's abode, and then mike and i went to crash the PARRA show at the new PROJECT SPACE. just as expected, it was awesome with its wit and all black everything.

========================================

ART BREAK:

(l to r: sam and george)

STORY:
following sam's performance at the HAMMER, we took a moment to enjoy the rest of the exhibitions (which included CARL JUNG'S RED BOOK) and then played some ping-pong.

========================================

FOR THE EARTH:

(l to r: jt and simon)

STORY:
went out to see SIMON and JT perform jt's book, 'fuck the earth'. the performance was a slight warming of the legs for simon's senior thesis piece, which i'm extremely excited for.

KNOW ANOTHER.

PLACEMENT:

(l to r: lindsey and mary)

STORY:
my HARRISON GRAY OTIS SATURDAY NIGHT SPECIAL project continues. almost all of the symbols have been finalized. still have two more to make patches to make, then i shall be done with that portion. over this next week, i will be printing my sweatshirt and possibly a couple others to turn in for the class. the following week, i'll be doing the rest of the box.

========================================

ALL-AMERICAN:

(l to r: ashley)

STORY:
the cake-making lady also makes bikes about cherry pie, fireworks, and popsicles. i think people should be required to listen to the national anthem while riding on it.

========================================

STILL STANDING:

(l to r: melanie)

STORY:
bronze legs of a fawn to complete the table of destiny. looks very nice, ms. melanie.

========================================

A LIGHT:

(l to r: yasmin, jessica, and mary)

STORY:
ms. jessica recently informed the junior class she will be leaving otis after this semester. it was definitely a moment of sadness, but it allowed for a chance to reflect on everything i learned with her. the amount of growth i've experienced with HER GUIDANCE is staggering. she gives herself to her students, and was always willing to spend that extra moment if i needed it. i will really miss having her around.

FROM MOVIES THAT MATTER:

STORY:
for the ongoing 'movies that matter' series at otis, THE COVE was shown last thursday. i didn't know it had won the oscar for best documentary this year, but, now, i understand why. the film was tough, informative, and terrific. it's hard to make some subjects entertaining, but it doesn't hold any punches - and it was better because of it. i give the film a full recommendation.

RECONSIDERINGS.

DIFFERENT WORDS:

(left, bottom clockwise: rebecca, mary, tiimo, emma, amy, anna, ed, and robyn)

STORY:
ED FELLA dropped by our wot/wow course. we spoke about current topics and issues of relation to design. it's nice to just take a break to speak about things sometimes - even when it doesn't serve to remedy the situation in any true sense. in these small things, big things begin.

========================================

FLOPSY:

(l to r: ashley and me)

STORY:
the costume is taking shape. it is simple cutouts at this point, but there is still plenty of growing room. now, i need to find small fabric to make a rainbow.

========================================

GETTING AWKWARD:

(l to r: sarin and tahani)

STORY:
these kind ladies abused my terrible dancing skills for their video/photo project. i haven't seen the final yet, but i'm a bit worried that it will make people's brains bleed.

========================================

TO LET STAND:

(l to r: vicki and lindsey)

STORY:
the otis fine arts junior show recently occurred and a few of my friends were in. it was nice to see a lot of the pieces that had been slaving over primped and proper for the wall. congrats, friends!

all faux but soon to be all real. and, yes, this means exactly what you think.

========================================

SEA OF GREY FOR GRAY:

STORY:
the collegiate sweatshirt project for communication studio has begun to take shape. i've collected the hoodies, and they've become a mountain of mostly grey. at this point, there is still a mountain of work to do - but i'm really motivated to break this wild stallion and ride it into the sunset.

ONTO PAPER:

STORY:
a while back, INDIE PRINTING ran a special for free business cards for full time students and i recently went to pick mine up. they look great and they were super helpful. when i went in, i met frankie, who was really helpful, and saw a handful of their other lustworthy samples(the hemp samples were mighty nice). i would definitely recommend these folks for future printings. thanks again for the free cards too!
