RUB CHAGRIN NEVER.

GRAHAM:

(l to r: lee graham)

STORY:
i've been working on 'Graham' quite a bit recently. Graham is my project that i WENT TO HOLLAND for, earlier this summer. there is still plenty of work to do, but much of the foundation is already settled. above, he is showing me part of his home.

ON CANVAS:

(l to r: jesse)

STORY:
my good friend, JESSE MCCORMICK painted mister unicorn. i think he did a knock out job of capturing the pure beauty that is unicorn's face. a video of him painting it can be seen HERE and the final painting HERE. thanks, jesse.

GREEN GREY.

MASKS:

STORY:
EMMA SHAVICK and STEPHANIE TREININ started a blog online called MECHANISMS OF MINDS. it is a collection of images, based upon a theme, from otis kids. the theme this week was 'masks', and mine is above.

OUT:

(l to r: lindsey, nicole, and me)

STORY:
the annual OLIVE RHYME trip occurred. it was daunting, and perfect. we explored muir woods, salem, portland, seattle, yellowstone, salt lake city, and zion. the photo above is a decent photo description of what the trip was like, and that word was tiring.

========================================

GEOFFED:

(l to r: nicole and lindsey)

STORY:
a couple years ago, i read about a GEOFF MCFETRIDGE show in seattle. i never thought i'd have the opportunity to see show, but, suprisingly, it was still up. in fact, it was the last couple weeks before it was taken down.

i slobbered all over the floor.

THEY EXIST:

STORY:
i wish i wouldn't have been in a bar, so i could have heard all of their insightful and poignant comments.

========================================

TOGETHER:

(l to r: jon[white], melanie [baseball tee], tim [red, cut off], matt [grey], and sara)

STORY:
one of my best friends, matt, is getting married. the celebration was held at a cardinal's game, which was my first ever time in the sea of red. it was a scorcher, but the weather had cooled a bit from a few days before. the cardinals lost, but a lot was gained.

SHIPS AND COTTAGES.

BEFORE WE WERE GONE:

(l to r: john)

STORY:
on one anyday, john, josh, and i decided to make a couple videos for unicorn. they are some of my favorites and can be seen HERE and HERE.

JOSH ENGEL helped out with all the after effects business. his work is really funny and has almost nothing to do with what we did, but he just happens to have a large skill set. thank you, sir.

========================================

SECURE:

STORY:
i made a background for my phone, and thought it might be something worth SHARING on my website.

========================================

ONE LAST:

(l to r: mike, danielle, and jessica)

STORY:
ms. danielle vacated the country with one last hurrah. her friends gathered as we took a moment to savor company over a california staple.

========================================

COVERAGE:

(l to r: lindsey)

STORY:
i was finally able to get over to LACMA to see the baldessari show. i prefer the paintings that make the people anonymous, that cover their faces with circles and shapes. if paintings could see, those paintings wouldn't know where they are.

NEW SUGAR.

FROM MY HAND, EARLY:

STORY:
above is a drawing of an angel i did when i was three years old. it is the first illustration i drew for my family's xmas card, and also is my favorite of the whole bunch too. soon, i'll be adding all of them HERE.

========================================

DISCO:

(l to r: nicole, lindsey, and josh[grey])

STORY:
we all went rollerskating and it was incredible. i haven't rollerskated since i was probably 12. the rink was different then though, because my childhood didn't feature one that served alcohol. i think that was the right equation, because i saw a girl turn into a red fountain at this place. we left immediately afterward.

========================================

MANAGING:

STORY:
i wonder if when i become a parent, i will become more coordinated.

========================================

BABY CAKE:

(l to r: mary, emma, and stephanie)

STORY:
to celebrate stephanie's cake, someone baked two cakes with baby parts in them. it was weird, but seemed to make the cakes taste better.

========================================

SUMMER:

(l to r: bennett[blue towel] and bailey[sitting])

STORY:
this photo epitomizes everything that i love about summer. it reminds me of how much i loved birthdays in the summer – with the pools and sunshine and running and screaming. they always felt better, and, for bailey's birthday, it really felt like summer.

FACULTY BLOCKS.

TEARING SOUNDS:

(l to r: me and sam)

STORY:
sam requested i partake in a shoot for her. we set up a previously dirty seamless and ripped it apart. it was satisfying in a way that few things are.

========================================

SEARCH:

(l to r: sam and josh)

STORY:
my quest for a great donut in los angeles continues.

========================================

HABITAT:

(l to r: indhi and ellen)

STORY:
ms. ellen and ms. indhi were involved in the design biennial at the PASADENA MUSEUM OF CALIFORNIA ART. their PIECE involved a step-by-step breakdown of how and where to recycle things, and it looked beautiful.

========================================

SHINE:

(l to r: john)

STORY:
i can't believe how little i've been able to get to the beach this summer. the free time just hasn't been there, and neither has the weather. it seems like it has only broken 80 degrees once this summer.

TINGE TAN.

HGO GET TOGETHER:

(l to r: lindsey and nicole)

STORY:
i shot the whole HGOSNS group IN THEIR JACKETS. it was a huge undertaking, and quite the load. thankfully, i had two very helpful kind ladies, who are also pictured above, help me. thank you, ms. nicole and lindsey.

========================================

GLEED:

(l to r: melanie)

STORY:
we finished season one of a glee and it was enjoyable. this trip was made for coffee, but the smell of donuts shops never cease to amaze me.

========================================

OVERFLOW CULTURE:

(l to r: josh)

STORY:
the TODD SCHORR show at otis has quite a bit of nice craft in it. everything is in its right place.
