FILM I'M REVIEWING FOR CLASS:

this film completely changed the american landscape of independent filmmakers. whenever i initially watched it, it felt like i had seen it before. that it was unoriginal. that it wasn't so special. as i've come to consider it since then, i realize the only reason i had those thoughts is because of how much the ideas have been copied since then.

sometimes, whenever really interesting, controversial films come out, i often think that the writer(director) just gets lucky. they have a flash in the pan, and it ends up being the only heat they ever generate. i've seen it with plenty of writers and directors, throughout cinema from the 50's to current times.

DAVID LYNCH, the writer and director, has continued to impress since the film, the alphabet. this is the reason for growing and learning, this a person that makes it worth doing.

EXTRA:

the 770.
