WILD THINGS BLOOM:
LAUREN:
STORY:
a close up of the piece, b.k.a. wild things bloom, shown last week and then the original photo of lauren. i was really happy with how the piece came out, but it doesn't hurt working with such a good subject. i always found this image of lauren heartachingly beautiful. it feels so honest and open; it seems like everything i have ever wanted from an image, more so a portrait. bless lauren's beautiful face and soul.

TALK:
(l to r: previous editor of juxtapoz?, mark, and editor of paper mag?)
STORY:
MARK DEAN VECA came to otis to speak about his show, PHANTASMAGORIA. the talk consisted of thoughts on his work, influences, and his career. he had a lot of nice things to say, and i would have enjoyed hearing more about the business side of his work. i was most fascinated by his technque, more specifically his cross-hatching. sadly, i was too scared to ask him about it during the q and a. next time!

Mark Dean Veca is great .I love his rooms or installations. He's like a Dr. Seuss graffitiist! He didn't do anything much between Otis graduation in 1985 and 1994. Did he say what he was doing then? Just trying to break through?
