GROWING ROOTS.

PERSON YOU NEED TO KNOW:

meet SPENCER KRUG

consistently one of my favorite musicians, he fronts 4 bands and i absolutely love 3. to put this in retrospect, i usually don't like people's only band.... so i'd say he is doing quite well for himself.

a couple weeks back, i had the chance to see his band SUNSET RUBDOWN
problem was i had to skip out on seeing SOMEONE STILL LOVES YOU BORIS YELTSIN to see these guys. it was quite aggravating that it had to happen this way... but i spoke to the band and they were doing well and seemed to be in good spirits. i'll see them this summer back in springfield.

anyways, it was definitely worth it; sunset rubdown put on such an incedible show. the whole thing still feels like a blur, but on of the greatest blurs i've had in a hot minute.

my favorite song of theirs 'shut up... i am dreaming of places where lovers have wings':

NEW WORK:
for my digital illustration class, we had to produce a design to submit to THREADLESS. i will be submitting three designs, though separately, as to not have them compete against each other.

1.trust fat chefs

i submitted this design first. whenever this link goes up on threadless, i'll post it. at the moment, it is still "pending approval."

2.calm like a bomb

i couldn't remember where i heard this phrase for the longest time. then one day i remember, it was the title of a rage against the machine song. i just love my subconscious; it really does quite a bit for me.

the third design hasn't been completed yet, though it is quite close.

one nice thing about threadless, if i am selected through a process of voting, i get $2500 bucks cash.

OF INTEREST:
recently, i was reading a magazine that had WARREN BEATTY interview. within the interview he discussed a breakfast spent with CARY GRANT. i found one quote mr. grant said specifically useful and i'd like to get more into this during the summer.

THE QUOTE:
"my dear boy, a man should eat the breakfast of a trencherman, the lunch of an artist, and the dinner of a pauper."

VIDEO UPDATE:
BROKE 1000 VIEWS..... next up, 30,000?

MEET MY TWIN:

a little info:
his name is dustin
we have had multiple classes together
he is a real cool cat
i really see the resemblance most when i cover everything but the eyes

SUMMER:
the excitement is building within me. it is almost mid-quarter here. lots of work coming up, but i've got lots of thing to work on/finish before i make the trip back to missouri.

the list:
1. continue getting healthier - i've been taking protein supplement(weight gain!),working out as much as my schedule allows, and eating almost 5 meals a day.
2. finish story (68% complete at time of blogging)
3.school
4.check out otis
5. purchase more suits from denver thrift stores
6. find replacement rims for mini

FILMS:
watched/rewatched:
BATTLE ROYALE
movie was incredible. such an interesting idea for a film. i really found it quite inspiring. hollywood is supposed to be remaking it(release date says 2008)...and they just put out a really horrible reinterpretation of it called the condemned starring stone cold steve austin.

THE LAST PICTURE SHOW
one of the best films i've seen in a while. great performances throughout and a great story.

INDIANA JONES TRILOGY
still so great. thanks george and james

LAST TANGO IN PARIS
bertolucci tells a great story with brando pushing and pulling like the method actor he was. very good, though i wouldn't call it great.

POOL HALL JUNKIES
enjoyable popcorn flick about playing pool

up next:
NOTORIUS
alfred hitchcock's espionage thriller

LOLITA
stanley kubrick's retelling of nabokov's famous novel about jailbait
