LAST SIZZLE.

FINALS:
my first year at otis is complete. here are some of my final projects, while others have previously been posted.

FORM AND SPACE:
we were asked to create an extension of something found on the otis complex. my group(with three of four pictured below) chose to do grass.

i, personally, thought our project came out really wonderfully. grass is such a simple thing that can sometimes be forgotten. i thought we properly appreciated it.

BECOMING ONE:

DRAWING AND COMPOSITION:
we were told to create a compelling composition using the otis campus, but i asked to use a photograph i had taken from my neighborhood.

the whole piece was created using prismacolors on tan paper.

LIFE DRAWING:
for our final, we were given two weeks to draw a model. the pose, based upon JOHN SINGER SARGENT'S MADAME X, was nude for the first week and clothed for most of the second.

i've really come to enjoy drawing life and i believe it is where i have improved the most in my first year at otis. the drawing was made with charcoal on white paper that i had toned with charcoal powder.

THE MODEL & DRAWING:

CONCERT:
for sam's birthday, i suprised her by taking her to the henry fonda theater for a COLIN MELOY show. sam and i both enjoy his main band, THE DECEMBERISTS, and i thought it would be a wonderful way to celebrate her living almost two decades. the show was really wonderful and colin is definitely a seasoned solo touring artist, as he played off the crowd in a way that i've seen very few solo artists do.
