STORY ON THE POSTER:
this was my poster for type design.

i was very interested in technical drawings, and their relation to space and shape.

with this, i worked to create a poster to discuss what a flat poster can do as it plays with space through overlaps and chiaroscuro. as i worked to create movement and play, i had to keep the goal of keeping the letters as the focus of the poster – which was the requirement of for the class.

STORY ON THE FONT:
in creating such a pragmatic face, based on our calligraphic beginnings, it was often hard to keep full interest – but i gave it everything i could.

i tend to be much more comfortable working on images the larger idea of the poster, and this made me reform my practice to focus on the details week after week after week.

in the end, i'm as pleased as i can be in the learning experience. it wasn't easy and i learned more than i could have ever expected. that's how all classes should be.

thanks MR. LINDY for the good year and all of the insight into the process.
